let them know they're on your mind - cavetown

Original vocalist(s): cavetown

Listening period: April 2024 - current

Comments:

It was this song that served as a backdrop to a miserable amount of pining and being a massive failure. First of all, cavetown is great and there will be a lot more cavetown on this list. Second of all, this song comes in clutch when you're laying on your bed and kicking your legs at 2 in the morning as well as making a fool of yourself in front of another person (as one does).

Disregarding all that, this is just genuinely a great song. Or maybe it is the sentimental value of trying to decide whether you should or should not let them know they're on your mind. I wouldn't know (no, I know very well).

The Third Sanctuary - Toby Fox

Original vocalist(s): N/A

Listening period: June 2025 - current

Comments:

Look, it's Toby "WHAT THE HELL IS A TIME SIGNATURE" Fox!!

It's actually really fun to play on the piano. Especially the end part. And it also has illogical time signatures (think 11s and 11s+12s+10s and stuff). It's a joy. And it also sounds really good of course. Chapters 3 + 4 were definitely an experience.

Your Best American Girl - Mitski

Original vocalist(s): Mitski

Listening period: August 2025 - current

Comments:

"But, big spoon, you have so much to do / And I have nothing ahead of me"

If your mother knew more about me, she definitely wouldn't approve of the way my mother raised me.

You're the one, you're all I ever wanted, and I definitely, definitely, definitely think I'll regret this.

This is not an easy song to listen to when you're living this exact situation.
