Species name: Myosotis scorpioides
Location: Europe and Asia; North America as well
Symbolism: Remembrance, true love, loyalty, etc., especially to someone who has died
Notes:
I don't remember the last time I saw one of these. (Unfortunate, because they're called forget-me-nots, right?)
Some websites say they can be eaten, some websites advise against it. And I don't actually remember if I live in a place that grows these...
Also, that's a pretty name, isn't it? Wikipedia says that the name comes from a German legend, where a knight fell into the Danube River after trying to pick blue flowers for his lady, calling out "Forget-me-not!" as he was swept away. I wouldn't know if that was true. I have no knowledge on German legends.
This other website points out that the phrase "don't forget me" expresses a desire to be remembered. I think that ends up being pretty obvious.
Odd, though, I don't remember seeing much of these around...
